target and cvs health announced today that cvs health has completed the acquisition of target’s pharmacy and clinic businesses. cvs health will operate target’s 1,672 pharmacies in 47 states through a store-within-a-store format, branded cvs pharmacy™, and target’s 79 clinic locations will be renamed minute clinic™.
next steps over the next six to eight months, cvs health will rename pharmacies and clinics in target stores with cvs pharmacy and clinic signage, convert technologies and systems, train thousands of new cvs health colleagues and implement operational practices to better serve the healthcare needs of our shared guests.

As each pharmacy and clinic is renamed, targeted customers will have access to CVS Health’s leading pharmacy care programs and retail medical clinic services. In addition, CVS Health’s pharmacy programs, including Pharmacy Advisor, Specialty Connection and Maintenance Option, will be available to help target guests achieve better medication adherence through increased convenience and best pharmacy care advice.

While most changes will take time to implement, some will be implemented immediately. For example, as of December 16, 2015, customers of the target pharmacy automatically moved into the CVS Health network. pharmacy how will the change from target pharmacy to cvs pharmacy affect me?
There will be very little impact to your experience until individual pharmacies and clinics are renamed. at that time, guests will have access to cvs health’s leading pharmacy care programs and retail medical clinic services. As of December 16, 2015, customers of the Target Pharmacy automatically moved into the CVS Health network. guests are encouraged to call their health plan provider if they have any questions. Do I need to transfer my prescriptions from the target pharmacy to the cvs pharmacy?
no action is required. colleagues at cvs health now have access to your prescriptions and patient records. The process will comply with HIPAA regulations, protect your privacy, and ensure that you continue to receive uninterrupted service. Until your pharmacy name is changed, you will be able to continue to access your records and refill your prescriptions at target.com/pharmacy, in the healthful™ app, or by visiting your local pharmacy. After the rebranding and systems conversion, you will be able to use cvs.com and the cvs pharmacy mobile app for refills and all of your prescription needs.
How will I manage my target prescription refills?
In most cases, if you have enrolled your prescriptions in the target pharmacy’s auto-refill program, you will continue to receive your prescriptions as usual. some restrictions apply, so check with your pharmacy for additional details.

To manually fill your prescriptions during the transition, you can use the healthy mobile app, target.com/pharmacy, or the target pharmacy’s mobile texting program. Once your pharmacy has changed its name to cvs pharmacy, you will be able to refill your prescriptions through cvs.com or the cvs pharmacy mobile app.
What happens to my destination specialty pharmacy prescription?
Until your pharmacy is remodeled, nothing changes. your specialty prescription will continue to refill as usual. You will soon receive more information from cvs health about its cvs specialty connect program and its refill options.
How do I know if my insurance will be accepted at the cvs pharmacy?
For most of our guests, coverage will be uninterrupted. We recommend that you contact your health plan provider directly for more information about your pharmacy network, copays, and other coverage options.
Will I still receive target pharmacy rewards for my prescription purchases?
The Target Pharmacy Rewards Program ended on December 1, 2015. Guests can no longer accumulate points, although Reward Certificates can still be redeemed at Target Stores. after the transition period, cvs health plans to offer its pharmacy extracare & health rewards® at their pharmacies in target stores.
